An exquisite late 19th century Art Nouveau bronze monumental bust sculpture of a young woman, Girl With Cherries, signed by Belgian-French Belle Epoque sculptor George Van der Straeten (1856-1928). Rich bronze patination. The young woman wears a feathered hat and bears a sensual and coy smile, cherries falling to her loose garment. The artist, Van der Straeten, exhibited in Paris from 1885 to 1912; he won the silver medal at the 1900 Paris World's Fair and was created a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1903.
