A late 19th century German violinA late 19th century German violin with 14 inch two piece back bears Jacobus Stainer label and a nickel mounted bow Estimate ?150-200 Violin has a two tone light and dark appearance to the wood surface throughout many light scratches and scuffs consistent with age particularly to the outer edges and the back of the violin. A small crack extending up from the bottom for about an inch to the right of the chin guard and another in the same area extending up about 4 inches part of the ebony finger board at the top is deficient and somewhat tired in appearance. Bow with general age wear but essentially ok. Case defective. Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports.
