The second a 3-1/2" x 4-1/2" high-gloss finished blue raised lily vase having the date stamp for 1958. The third is a 5" x 3" matte pink raised leaf pattern vase having the date stamp for 1948. The last is a 5-1/2" square footed trivet with a high gloss blue finish having the date stamp for 1954. MEASUREMENTS: See Description. CONDITION: Slight wear to all three vases from use.

Born in Kentucky in 1888, Charles Jasper McLaughlin attended the Cincinnati Art Academy in 1905 and also studied landscape painting at the Sorbonne in Paris, France. McLaughlin was an artist at Rookwood pottery from 1913 to 1920. Most of his designs were Vellum Glaze florals and landscapes. Years later, from 1927 to 1929, he taught architecture at Texas A & M College, and returned to Cincinnati by the early 1930s to study painting at the Cincinnati Art Academy.
