All items stamped with Ott & Brewer Belleek maker's mark and inscribed "Mrs. W. H. Cutter 1883" in blue to underside. Teacups: 3" H x 3 3/8" W x 2 7/8" D. Saucers: 5 3/8" dia. Included in this lot is the original wooden, red satin-lined, fitted case; a panoramic photograph of Hampton Cutter Clay Mines; and several newspaper clippings on the legacy and death of the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Cutter and inheritor of Hampton Cutter Clay Mines, Hampton Cutter. Case: 5 5/8" H x 19 3/4" W x 19 3/4" D. American, circa 1883. Note: William Henry Cutter inherited the Hampton Cutter Clay Mines from his father, Hampton, who discovered kaolin (and later fine blue clay) on the Woodbridge, New Jersey family farm in 1845. Hampton Cutter Clay supplied numerous national and international industries with their raw materials including Ott & Brewer of Trenton, NJ, the first American pottery to manufacture Belleek porcelain in 1882. This specially made set was a wedding gift for Sarah Romaine upon her 1883 marriage to William Henry Cutter.
