ANTONIO JACOBSEN S.S. MOMUS STEAM SHIP PAINTING New York, New Jersey, Denmark,1850-1921Depicts the S.S. Momus, a sister ship to the S.S. Antilles, which sunk in 1917 after being torpedoed. Jacobsen studied at the Royal Academy in Copenhagen before emigrating to the United States in 1871. He frequented the harbor around Battery Park which subsequently landed him jobs painting for The Old Dominion Line, the Fall River Line, and the White Star Lines for visual records of their fleets.
