LOT NOTES
The large meissen allegorical figure of Mars in His Chariot, was first modelled in part by J.J. Kaendler and in part by M.C. Acier, designed as a gift for the Czarina Catherine II. Intended for decoration of the Katalnaya Gorka or 'Sliding Hill' pavilion near the Oranienbaum Palace outside of St. Petersburg.
CONDITION
The figurine is in good condition. A chip resulting in loss to one of the feathers of Mars' helmet. Inspection under UV light shows retouching to Mar's helmet, a visible repair to the adjoining bases and retouching and repair to the one of the horses proper left leg.

Condition: Overall in very good condition. Some minor losses to applied flowers, and the horses reins entangled. Please note that the bronze mounts of the chariot and frame is exceptional. The underside on chariot has brown wax applied as to stabilized/adhere it to the metalwork.

CONDITION
The figural group is in good condition. Losses to the cypher, applied foliage of tree and the horn of the horse. The horn of the horse is held in place by tape, will need to be restored. Inspection under UV light shows repainting to the neck, mane, forehead of the horse. Repainting to the tree and applied foliage, along with repainting to the torso, face and verso of Europa. Fluorescence to the globe and open book on the base, overall around 40% of repainting.
