Modern movement with chime. Age wear to clock face; wood columns flanking clock face are loose. Age related wear to wood. Escapement works, but clock has not been tested extensively. A LONG CASE CLOCK WITH 'S. HOADLEYA LONG CASE CLOCK WITH 'S. HOADLEY PLYMOUTH' WOOD DIALThe case with alligatored finish is topped by three period brass finials over the arched door with full columns either side above the pendulum box finished in quarter columns each side of the drop panel door above an outset box base topped by cove molding, without feet. It appears the case was originally grain painted. The dial with federal eagle over landscape in oval reserve of beads and scallops in gold relief also has green plume spandrels with cornucopias that frame the Roman numeral chapter ring encircling sub-dials for seconds and calendar days. The starbursts at the winding holes, and other dial embellishments, are applied in high gilt relief. The cast aluminum hands are replacements. The wood works time and strike movement with oak plates is unsigned.Measures 88.5 x 18.5 x 9 inches.Very good intact running condition at the time of removal from the Stewart home.
