ANTONIO JACOBSEN DREADNOUGHT SHIPANTONIO JACOBSEN DREADNOUGHT SHIP PAINTING New York, New Jersey, Denmark1850-1921Depicts the clipper ship Dreadnought, built in 1853 for the American Red Cross Line to compete with other steamships of the time. Jacobsen studied at the Royal Academy in Copenhagen before emigrating to the United States in 1871. He frequented the harbor around Battery Park which subsequently landed him jobs painting for The Old Dominion Line, the Fall River Line, and the White Star Lines for visual records of their fleets.
