ROLY POLY TOBACCO "BROWNIE" ADVERTISING TIN & BLACK FOR...1st item: Mayo's Cut Plug Roly Poly tobacco "Brownie" tin, painted as the character "Store Keeper" with a depiction of the Mayo's tobacco pack on the backside, rounded anthropomorphic form. Brand and collection information on bottom of vessel. 7 1/2" H x 6 1/2" W x 6 1/2" D. American, early 20th-century. 2nd item: Black Forest hardwood and brass pipe with carved hunting motif. Saddle stem creates a deep bent Oom Paul shape. The hinge, snap cap and lip of bowl are brass with a floral motif on cap. The end of short shank has been replaced with an aluminum facing. Bowl: 4 1/2" H x 1 1/2" W. Stummel: 2 1/2" L x 1 1/4" W. Shank: 1/2" L x 1" W. The serpentine stem extends 3 1/2" in length and 4" away from bowl. Early 20th century.

1st item: Overall good condition, scattered small losses to paint, minor discoloration, and slight dents on bottom portion of vessel. 2nd item: Very good condition, replaced metal on face of shank and light use wear.

DOROTHY THORPE STYLE PUNCH BOWL SETDorothy Thorpe style mid-century glass punch bowl with ten roly poly style cups and caddy; bowl and cups feature a decorative wide silver band around top edge; bowl measures approximately 6-3/4" tall and 11-1/4" in diameter; cups each measure approximately 2-3/8" tall and 2-1/2" in diameter; caddy measures approximately 8" tall and 15-1/4" in diameter; apparently unsigned; in Good condition, consistent with age and use. Born in Salt Lake City in 1901, Dorothy Thorpe was a mid-century American artist who designed beautiful glassware and ceramic pieces out of her Los Angeles studio. Like many of her mid-century contemporaries, such as Georges Briard and Fred Press, she was a designer, not a manufacturer, of glassware. She purchased simple blank glassware, mostly crystal, from U.S. and European manufacturers and decorated them with her personal designs.
