PUCCINI GIACOMO. Autograph Letter Signed (''G.P.'') 2 pp recto and verso 12mo Milan May 1 1921 to Rose Ader on personal stationery signature slightly smeared else excellent with autograph transmittal envelope.Rose Ader was a Viennese soprano and the last of Puccini's mistresses. The two began their affair in 1921 and it likely continued through the rest of Puccini's life. The present letter was written early in the affair and Puccini pleads with Ader to either write to him in French or even in ''cattaivos italiano'' because he is unable to read her letters. Regardless he states: ''ti amo da moire!'' and closes: ''mille e mille baci / d'amore tuo.''See illustration.
