City Directories from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania record a Fred Schulze at 112 Wylie Avenue as early as 1877. The nature of his employment is variably listed into the twentieth century as "tinner," "laborer," and "hardware," with no mention of prepared birdseed.

MARK TWAIN HANDWRITTEN LETTER TO FRANK BLISS Mark Twain one page letter boldly written and clearly signed. Dated April 19, 1872 in Elmira NY and is a letter to his dear friend Frank Bliss. Frank was the president of the American Publishing Company, asking him to send a book to William C. Smyth, the city editor of the main newspaper of Pittsburgh. The letter has great content and a provides a feeling for Twain?s demeanor. An excellent piece.
