A LARGE WATANO JAPANESE KUTANI VASE WITH PHOENIX AND DRAGONS Meiji period (1868-1912), 19th century, porcelain hand painted in iron red and gold with a lush menagerie of dragons, phoenixes, and foo (shishi) lions frolicking over a soft ornate cloud ground, with a double band faux bamboo gilt rim, raised on three shaped feet, the underside with an inscription in iron red ?????? (Kaga kuni watano sei) together with blue flower mark.

A SELECTION OF ASIAN ARTWORKS Includes four artworks, first a porcelain vase hand painted in underglaze blue with a large peony blossom (7 1/4 in.)(hairline to rim; glaze is odd to underside, perhaps later touch up), second a rare kutani tea jar with two covers, very finely hand painted, signed to underside (HOA 5 in.)(cover with scratches and hairlines; interior cover with nicks to rim; underside of jar with firing crack), third a carved cinnabar style red lacquer box with carved hardstone phoenix medallion inset on the cover (2 x 3 3/4 x 5 1/2 in.)(some wear with losses at corners; underside with cracking and loss to black lacquer), and fourth a Chinese archaic style bronze vessel (length 6 1/4 in.)(rubbing and wear to surface; a circular area of apparent loss to one side.)
