Gurley, Troy N.Y. with fleur-de-lis at the north position, bubbles are present, the original dovetailed mahogany case is fitted inside and with many of the original tools and accessories.Case measures 12.75 x 9.5 x 7.75 inches.Very good condition throughout, no damage, repair or heavy wear, except for the case exterior and missing lock.

Gurley, Troy, N.Y. to dial. (15 x 6 x 10 in.).

Ing. = take 3 spoon fulls of pulverised copper, 3 spoon fulls pink salt, one pint of common water. Put all in one pot over a slow fire, simmer the whole to a powder. Stirring then all the time. Then take one pint of old soft soap, and one pint of water & stir all together over a slow fire. Then drench the horse = Twice will cure. Don't feed or any heating aid. Keep the horse in the shade & Feed on Green food.," signed "Battle," verso, "Recipe for Spanish Fever." 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" Note: Attributed to Nicholas William Battle (1820-1905) serving as a Lieutenant Colonel in Edward Jeremiah Gurley's Thirtieth Texas Cavalry.
