ERNST WAHLISS PORCELAIN BUST OFERNST WAHLISS PORCELAIN BUST OF OPULENTLY DRESSED MAIDEN 9 ½" thick x 15" wide x 22 ½" tall This piece bears the blue EW Turn Wien Made in Austria mark, used between 1897 and 1906. The story of Wahliss has many blanks, but by 30 years of age, with experience gained as a porcelain salesman, he quickly established himself a a premium porcelain manufacturer. His work was highly detailed and lifelike. Wahliss became so successful, he purchased the Stellmacher factory, markers of "Amphora" art pottery. Retiring from the business to run a hotel shortly after the Turn-Teplitz purchase, leaving operations to his son, died in 1900.

The vase is in overall age-appropriate condition. Overall craquelure visible to the naked eye. Inspection under UV shows no apparent signs of restoration or repairs.

Kurt Josef Waldheim (21 December 1918-14 June 2007) was an Austrian diplomat and politician. Waldheim was the fourth Secretary-General of the United Nations from 1972 to 1981, and the ninth President of Austria from 1986 to 1992. While he was running for president in Austria in 1985, the revelation of his service in Salonica as an intelligence officer in the Wehrmacht during World War II, raised international controversy.
