FINE MAHOGANY ANTIQUE ARCHITECT’S TABLE. Circa 1820. The square table has a double hinged lid which lifts and folds and can be set at different angles to provide a writing surface. Each side fitted to hold a rail, which is not present. The interior fitted with a segmented back compartment having a cover. A front compartment having a lift up writing surface with green felt panel and fit with an adjusting easel back for different angles. The felt surface also hinged to allow storage. The front having a long drawer with inlaid escutcheon and dark line inlay. One side fitted with two faux drawers, the other side has drawer with fittings to accept inkwell and pen. A faux drawer in each side having pullout candle slides. The table is supported by a short turned post having three outsweeping molded top legs ending in brass paw feet with large brass casters. An old label from “Millar & Beatty, Ltd Dublin” on bottom. PROVENANCE: From a fine New Hampshire home. SIZE: 29-1/4” h, top 35” square.
