This carving bears a brass tag on the underside inscribed "From rig of Donald B. Baxter, Syracuse, NY."
Based on written correspondence between Don Baxter of Syracuse, New York, and Gus Rogers, it can be assumed that Mr. Baxter bought this bird for his own personal hunting rig directly from Rogers in the late 1930s.
Original paint with moderate gunning wear, including flakes to knot in back and ding to bill tip.
