- NECKLACE W/ FOSSILIZED COPROLITE & DINOSAUR
NECKLACE W/ FOSSILIZED COPROLITE & DINOSAUR BONE BEADS**First Time At Auction**
Ancient Western North American, Mesozoic period, ca. 252 to 66 million years ago. This is a wonderful necklace made from a fascinating collection of over 60 fossilize dinosaur bones and coprolite. Each bead is cut and polished into spherical, ovoid, and lozenge shapes and strung on a modern wire in a balanced and pleasingly symmetrical composition. A modern lobster clasp makes this a wearable and elegant piece of natural history that is perfect for everyday wear. The amazing coloration and organic membrane structures have been preserved due to a silica based permineralization - as the bone fossilized it transformed into agate, which is a rare development and only occurs in silica rich deposits! Size of strand: 22.5" L (57.2 cm); largest bead: 0.75" L x 0.375" W (1.9 cm x 1 cm)
