J.J. AUDUBON, QUADRUPEDS OF NORTH AMERICA VOLUME 1 Volume 1 of The Quadrupeds of North America by John James Audubon, and The Rev. John Bachman. Published 1851, V.G. Audubon. The prospectus for this edition described it as "a miniature copy of the large edition, with figures and descriptions of the Quadrupeds of the United States (including Texas, California, and Oregon), part of Mexico, the British and Russian Possessions and Arctic regions of our continent." The plates comprise reduced copies of the plates seen in the large folio. All plates are present. Quarter bound in tan leather with marbled boards. Spine features ornate decoration with gilt titling on a field of black and red. Large 8vo.
