Fine Parker Bros 12 GA Side-by-Side Shotgun c 1890: For sale in this lot is an exceptional example of a circa 1890, High Grade Parker 12 Gauge, double-barreled, side by side shotgun. The Parker Bros were known to manufacture the finest, and most expensive US made shotguns of the late 19th century, and all the way into the 20th century. Not only did these fine "Frontier Era" double-barreled shotguns see sporting action, they also found their way into the hands of civilians as personal defense weapons, as well as lawmen, train guards, and prison guards alike found use with the Parker Bros shotguns. In addition to the excellent sporting scene engravings on each lockplate, the shotgun is marked "Parker Bros. " on each lockplate, "Parker Bros. Makers. Meriden CONN. Damascus Steel" on the top of the barrel rib, "PAT'D. MAR. 26. 1878" on the fore-grip lever catch, "PAT'D APR 11 1876" on the barrel flats, Serial Number: "60503" on the barrel, receiver, trigger guard, and the fore-grip, as well as "PAT'D JAN. 18. AUG. 16 1887 - MAY. 7. OCT. 8. 1889 - 2 - G - MAR. 16. 1875" on the receiver flats. The "G" stamped into the receiver indicates this fine double was a much higher than field grade "G-Grade" example. The shotgun was crafted in 1883, and shows gorgeous Damascus steel 30" barrels, beautiful wooden fixtures, and boasting an original "Parker Brothers" branded butt-plate, and pistol grip cap. In addition to the fine cosmetic condition, the shotgun has fine mechanical quality, with tight mechanics and action, and amazing BRIGHT bores. It is very difficult to come across an unaltered, high-grade model designation Parker Bros shotgun - This example would be a great addition to any sportsman's or Western firearm collection. The shotgun qualifies as an Antique Long Gun, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: 60503. NO FFL.
