2 CHINESE BLUE & WHITE "SEA HORSE" CUPS,17TH C. Two Chinese blue and white Sea Horse cups, dating from the JiaJing Period (1521-1567). Two important cups, one smaller, Both with a blue and white design on bottom within a double circle, and another border below the rim. Outside design three flying seahorses with clouds. Each with a six character blue mark within a circle on the recessed base. Accompanied by a pouch with drawstring. D. Smaller: 2 3/8" (6 cm), D. The exquisite dish features a curving fish in the center surrounded by underwater plants, within a double circle. Another double circle below the rim. Outside with four more fish spaced between underwater foliage, with crisp six character mark within double circle on the recessed base.
