Note: William Moore Davis, no relation to the president of the Confederate States, found fame in New York by painting Civil War subjects. His most famous image was of Jefferson Davis, painted in 1862, and was widely distributed in printed form. This image of Davis on horseback shows him in a planter's hat, grey uniform, carrying a version of the Confederate Flag, against a backdrop of the war ravaged landscape.

Rib is marked "WM Moore & Co. London Fine Twist". Circa 1870 based on Birmingham proof marks. Cbered for 12 gauge shell, 13 marked on barrels. Serial number 3324. Approx. 47 1/4" overall, 15" LOP. Stock is cracked and there is separation between the receiver and stock. Left barrel has dent in the muzzle rim. Bores have some scattered pitting. Some of the hardware has been replaced. Barrels measure approx. 30", 46 1/4" overall, 14" LOP. Barrels stamped "Fine Laminated-Steel". Belgian Proof mark on barrels. Shotgas age appropriate wear with oxidation and finish loss. Left barrel is missing nipple. Trigger guard is missing front screw. Stock has dings and scratches, no cracks. Bores have uniform discoloration. See images for more details on condition. 19th Century Needlepoint of Harp Player & Cherub.By Mary Theresa McLaughlin St Joseph's Academy New York 1843. Originally owned by prominent New York City Judge William Moore a lifetime Greenwich Village resident and affiliate of St. Joseph's Academy. This needlepoint has been in the family's possession since his death in 1940. Dimensions: Sight - 21'' high x 16.75'' wide. Condition: Overall good condition; frame as is - some water damage which did not affect needlework.
