DUTCH CISTERN BAROMETERAmsterdam circa 1820, the parquetry inlaid mahogany case showing a broken arch pediment centred by an urn shaped finial, over a glazed panel fronting two engraved pewter scales bearing maker's signature for Antonio Peia (1769-1845), engraved with weather indicators in Dutch and fronted by a thermometer on the left and a barometer in the centre, the base showing a boxed reservoir raised on twin peg supports. Measuring 49.75" high x 12" wide. Contents & functionality unknown at time of cataloguing. This lot must be picked up.

ADMIRAL FITZROY BAROMETEREngland circa 1900, the grained oak case showing a richly carved pediment with turned finials, over a glazed panel fronting a paper backing in faux Old German font, affixed with a storm glass on the left, a mercury tube in the centre and a scaled thermometer to the right. Measuring 49" high x 10" wide. Contents & functionality unknown at time of cataloguing. (Admiral Fitzroy 1805-1865, was the Captain of The HMS Beagle that took Charles Darwin on board to Patagonia. Soon after his retirement, Capt. Fitzroy turned his knowledge of seafaring towards developing a barometer for inhabitants living in coastal areas, and which bears his name. This lot must be picked up.
