  THREE BISCUIT FIGURES OF MAIDENSTHREE BISCUIT FIGURES OF MAIDENS, the first a Wilhelm Goebel biscuit figure of a seated maiden, Rödental, German, 1900-1914, printed iron-red crowned WG monogram, impressed model no. 8763 and 14, modeled seated on a rock with hands clasped, h: 7.25 in.; the second an American or British parian sculpture, 'Rock of Ages', circa 1870, unmarked, after Robert Cooke, modeled as a young maiden prostrate before a large cross inscribed 'Rock of Ages', h: 13.25 in.; the third a Wagner & Apel biscuit porcelain figure group of a mother and child, Lippelsdorf, Germany, 20th Century, blue crowned WA mark, impressed model no. 2633 and RK, depicted seated cradling her baby, h: 8.75 in.; together with a Victorian ceramic figure of a child, late 19th/20th Century, modeled standing wearing a headscarf and loose dressing gown, holding a gather of flowers in its hem, on a wooden base, h: 8.5 in. (4) Provenance: Estate of Ronald Sperling Literature: Based on the biblical hymn of the same name, close variations of American or British parian sculpture, 'Rock of Ages', are recorded at the British firms, Copeland and Robinson & Leadbeater.
