Each side has a similar treatment with two quadrants of triangles. Near perfect condition (one very minor chip on the right side) in original varnish. Brass hinges. Round nails. Three extremely faint scratches to the lower quadrants, two to the lower left (approximately 6 and 4 inches long respectively) and one to the lower right (approximately 3 inches long). A very fine, faint scuff to the upper right quadrant, approximately 5 inches long. A group of four very light scuffs to the lower left corner. Two dark spots near the lower right border and one below the bottle, each less than 1/8 of an inch in diameter. More faint spots scattered through the image that appear inherent to the print. One minute nick to the lower right edge.

Provenance: From the Pacific Palisades estate and collection of Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt S. Pardee, the founder of Pardee Construction Company. Condition: Full restoration done by Aneta Zebala. A 2 inch-long scratch at upper edge. Stable craquelure throughout. Areas of inpainting throughout, including two small areas on the sitter's face, several areas in all four quadrants of the background, and along the edges to address frame abrasion; the largest area of inpainting approximately 4 x 2 inches and located to the right of the sitter's mouth and chin. Two 1-inch diameter patches applied to verso to address punctures and with corresponding inpainting to recto. The frame in good condition with only 2-3 minor chips to gilding.

Schweres Reiter-Regiment Prinz Karl von Bayern.1st Heavy Cavalry Regiment Prince Karl of Bavaria. Pewter lid has a horse mounted soldier with lion above handle. Stein is marked "Made in Germany" on bottom. Rare stein. The honorary Colonel-in-Chief of this regiment was Generalfeldmarschall Prinz Leopold von Bayern. The commanding officer was Prinz Alfons von Bayern. This regiment was garrisoned in Munich. In 1815, the regiment participated in Napoleon's defeat at the Battle of Waterloo. In 1866, it fought with Austria against Prussia in the Seven Weeks War. In 1870, it fought against the French at Beaumont, Sedan, Artenay, Orleans, Chateaudun, Marchenoir, Coulmiers, Villepion, Loigny-Poupry, Meung, Beaugency-Cravant and in 1871 participated in the siege of Paris. (1) Imperial German Lidded Regimental stein. 1. Hochsee Torpedo Boats Flotilla. 1st High Seas Torpedo Boats Flotilla. The pewter lid has a sailor holding a German naval flag with four quadrants. Note (courtesy of AskART: The Artists' Bluebook): Hjalmar "Cappy" Amundson was born under the name Caspar Hjalmar Emerson III, but went on to change his name to Hjalmar Amundson in honor of his relative Roald Amundsen, and then proceeded to paint under many aliases, one of them being William Ward Jr.
