KING GEORGE'S WAR-ERA NEW ENGLAND POWDER HORN United States,C. 1740s-50sPowder horn carved with half circles and cross hatching on the base near the plug, foliate designs, deer, birds, a bear, a carved face with what looks like a sunburst and wings, a fish, stars, geometric designs, and a folky and naive depiction of what looks like King George II with a crown over his head, a pine plug with what looks like carved initials, and a later brass ring attached. Note: Although not named or dated, the style and depiction of King George II place the horn during King George's War to the early French and Indian War period.

NATHAN TILLOTSON'S 1758-DATED POWDER HORN United States,C. 1758Cow horn with carved foliate designs, a rabbit, deer, birds, two fish, with the initials "ST" of the possible carver, marked "NATHAN:TILLITSON/Septr. ye 2.th 1758, with a faceted spout with what looks like a tuning key for a stopper, and a convex pine plug with an iron wire loop for a strap which is held in by wooden pegs. Note: Nathan Tillotson was born June 24, 1733, at Lyme, New London, Connecticut. He married Keziah Gerard on October 29, 1754, at Smithtown, Suffolk, New York. In 1758 he was a member of Captain Alexander Smith's company and was enrolled by Lieutenant Jacob Smith in the Suffolk County Provincial Militia. In 1767 he died in Middlebury, Vermont.

NATIVE AMERICAN JOHN DEFREEZE'S 1762 POWDER HORN United States,C. 1762Ornately carved cow horn with the sun with the form of a face, trees, misspelled names of towns, ships flying the British flag, buildings with smoke billowing from the chimneys, initials "I L" possibly for the carver, marked at the base of the horn "IOHN DEFREEZE HIS HON 1762", with a flat pine plug held in place by wooden pegs, and an iron rose head nail for attaching a strap. Note: John Defreeze's name appears in the New York muster rolls spelled De Fries, Defrise, and Defrize, and is listed as an "Indian." He enlisted on March 24, 1760 from Tappan, New York, enlisted again on April 25, 1761, and the last enlistment is dated June 17, 1762.

Plug has a brass plate with iron strap holder. 12" length. In overall very good condition.
