Wurlitzer jukebox, tiger maple and walnut veneers, metal tag at back "Wurlitzer Multi-Selector Phonograph, Model 1015, Serial No. 2056923", with painted amphitheater interior, bubbling tubes, 24 track, circa 1940s, 59 x 33 x 23 in. Fully restored and apparently in excellent condition, one base molding slightly loose, very minor veneer chips and scattered flaws, currently not in working order.

The case with some cracking to veneer at seams and with some minor losses (especially at feet and to domed top). Some distress to cream-colored backing at vertical plastic tubes. Cracks to three small square mirrored tiles at sides of case. *Weschler''s does not guarantee the working condition of the Wurlitzer jukebox.

N.B. Donald C. Kelley trained at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, from 1952 to 1957. During a two year period abroad, he met fellow Museum School alum Cy Twombly in Mykonos, Greece. Kelley attended Yale School of Art and Architecture in 1960 where he received his Bachelors and Masters degrees. He has had a number of one-man and group exhibits in New England, and several art residencies at the Wurlitzer Foundation and The MacDowell Colony.
Based on the signatures, the present work is both figurative and abstract from either vertical orientation.

The jukebox features a wonderful walnut veneered case with applied nickel straps and beautiful scrolling grill centered with 5 green tubes, includes yellow and red plastics. This model was one of the first to include rotating cylinders and a keyboard style selector with a round indicator that has green and red lights indicating the selected tune number. Wurlitzer Plant Directional Metal Sign: Offered in this lot we have a Wurlitzer plant directional metal street sign. Wurlitzer was a musical instrument manufacturing company founded in 1853 and operated till it got bought out by Baldwin Piano Company. The sign is painted a bright yellow and is a rectangular sign with a hand pointing to the left. The sign is marked in the front with black raised lettering, reading "3 Miles to Wurlitzer Plant - North Tonawanda. New York". The sign shows 4 attachment point holes. The sign is in good condition overall. It measures 23" long by 5 1/2" tall. This sign appears to be of a newer age.
