- ROYAL DOULTON MARK MARSHALL STONEWARE
ROYAL DOULTON MARK MARSHALL STONEWARE LIZARDAllegorical glazed cobalt lustre with other naturalistic colors.
A very unusual and rustic stoneware piece by artist Mark V. Marshall (1843-1913), who modeled many iconic tableware pieces, often drawing inspiration from the works of Lewis Carroll to add a whimsical context to his models. This stoneware gecko has radiating lines throughout and was devised in a more rough-hewn style than was typical for the often refined Doulton sculptures of the era.
