Both sets of bbls have tapered concave fine matted ribs with single bead, rib extension with ejectors and HUNTER One-Trigger. The ribs are both marked "HUNTER ARMS CO. FULTON NY". The lockplates have large vignettes of two scaled quail on the left side and two ducks in a marsh scene with flying ducks in the background on the right side. It has light patterns of foliate arabesque engraving elsewhere. It is fitted with very nicely figured shell grain American walnut with two black-tipped splinter forearms and semi-pistol grip stock, 13-3/4" over a serrated hard rubber buttplate. It is accompanied by its orig English style oak & leather trunk case with tan chamois lining. It has brass reinforced corners with a brass lock and leather handle. The top of the lid is marked "WILLIAM D. ORD / LANDGRAFF W.VA." Bore restrictions: 26" bbls - left .020, right .005; 28" bbls - left .024, right .006. Drop at the heel 3-3/8", drop at the comb 2". CONDITION: Both sets of bbls retain virtually all of a fine professionally restored finish. Receiver retains 50-60% faded, orig case colors, bright in sheltered areas. Left lockplate retains about 85% lightly faded orig case colors and the right lockplate about 70% orig case colors, fading to silver. Trigger guard retains 50-60% bright orig blue. Wood is sound with some small chips around the top tang and minor chips around the lockplates with a ding by the lower trigger guard and normal handling & use marks and a small gouge by the toe. Mechanics are fine, brilliant shiny bores. Case is sound with moderate to heavy soil, light scratches and dings, dry rotted strap keepers and a dry rotted and broken handle strap. This firearm utilizes two 30" steel barrels chambered in 12 gauge. The barrels are fully ribbed and are marked on the top “L. C. Smith Ideal Grade Hunter Arms Co. Inc MFRS Fulton, N. Y. USA". The shotgun features a walnut fore stock and pistol butt stock. The checkering has faded, but the lines are still evident. The receiver shows a well done floral engraving in good condition. The receiver itself shows a nice gray patina. Serial Number: 111908. This firearm qualifies as an Antique and does NOT require an FFL transfer or NICS Background.

Beautiful high grade Smith with 30” Nitro Steel bbls choked FULL/MOD with tapered, concave, fine matted rib, sgl bead, crossbolt bbl extension, ejectors & dbl triggers. Right bbl is engraved “L.C. SMITH CROWN GRADE” & left bbl “MADE TO ORDER BY THE HUNTER ARMS CO. INC. FULTON, N.Y.” There is a gold band near the breech end of rib with about 2” of rib & rib extension engraved and a narrow band of engraving around bbls & about 1-1/2” of engraving patterns on each side. Mounted with orig exhibition quality, flame grain, American walnut with black tipped, checkered, splinter forearm & capped, semi-pistol grip stock, 14-1/8” over a serrated hard rubber buttplate. There is a small gold initial oval on bottom of stock engraved “F.D.G.” Lockplates are very beautifully engraved with two setters in a field scene on left side & two pointers in a field scene on right side, surrounded by full coverage floral & arabesque patterns with maker’s name engraved in a ribbon on each side. Rib is marked "MADE TO ORDER BY THE HUNTER ARMS CO. FULTON, NY". There is a wide decorated gold band at end of inscription. Bbl flat & under toe of left lockplate are stamped "5E". Bbls are nitro steel. Receiver & lockplates are beautifully engraved with large vignettes of two bird dogs in a field scene on each side surrounded by very fine foliate arabesque patterns with flower blossoms at rear end & top edge. There are more flower blossoms on frame. It has maker's name in a ribbon on each side. Lockplates have full coverage with receiver having about 50% coverage. Trigger guard has a large "L" engraved in a small vignette. Engraving patterns extend 1-1/2" up bbls with a small border pattern at muzzles. Top tang has a full checkered safety, with "S" in gold & forend latch is full checkered. Mounted with nicely figured straight grain American walnut with L.C. Smith's typical fully checkered schnable tipped beavertail forearm with pistol grip stock, 14-1/4" over an old English pad. CASED GARNITURE OF ARMS. The 41-1/4” x 17-3/4” x 4-1/4” wood case contains a shotgun and a pair of pistols by Vincent & Sons of Perigueux, two swords, two powder flasks, and various tools. There are also six empty covered compartments. These are all presentation grade items, but no name appears on the case or any of the items in the case. The shotgun’s SN is 4314. It is 16 ga., 36-3/8” bbls are made of top grade Damascus steel with contrasting ribbons of straight grain and whorled patterns. There are Belgian proofs on the bottom, but no maker’s marks. The right lockplate is inlaid in gold with “VINCENT & FILS” within an oval border which is inlaid with silver. The left lockplate is inlaid in gold “A PERIGUEUX” within a similar silver-inlaid oval. The stock is carved instead of checkered with a modified fish scale pattern on both the grip and forearm. There is relief carved floral scrolling at the rear of the pistol grip, extending on to the bottom of the stock. The wood appears to be a burl walnut. The German silver fittings are all engraved with a shell top patchbox inlet into the left side of the stock behind the cheekpiece. The pistols are similarly marked and mounted with the name on one pistol and the town on the other engraved on the locks, but not gold inlaid. German silver fittings with similar clamshell patchbox are in the butt of each. They are .56 Cal. microgroove rifling, 7” oct bbls. Ramrods have ivory tips and cleaning jags on the other end. The court sword has a 29-5/8” triangular fluted blade with floral designs etched on all three sides, but no maker’s mark. The gilt bronze hilt has a crowned eagle with lightning bolts on the counterguard and bees on the pommel. The hilt is mother-of-pearl. The scabbard has similarly decorated gilt bronze throat and drag. The saber has a 29-3/4” double fuller blade that is etched for most of its length in scrolls, vines, and military motifs. The hilt has a simple decoration. The grip is leather, bound by three rows of copper wire. The gold portapee has a black cord. The leather scabbard has plain brass throat and drag. The top of the lid has wood of a different grain and color from that on the body of the case. The interior is lined with hunter green felt. It contains, besides the items above, a large French pushbutton shotgun flask featuring Diana and a deer. A pistol flask, 3-3/8” long, has a checkerboard pattern with flowers in the boxes and leaves around the top. Other items include a turned wood cap box, a brass oil bottle, a cleaning rod with loading tip for the pistols, a longer 2-pc rod for the shotgun, an iron mold for casting various sizes of buckshot, a patch cutter, a combination screwdriver/nipple wrench, a cleaning brush for the shotgun, a cleaning brush for the pistols, a loading mallet, a bullet mold for the pistols, and a key which works the lock. CONDITION: Rear of the bbl is lightly pitted, and there are dents on the front end. Stock has been refinished. Locks are a smooth gray with some loss to the silver inlay on the name side. Pistols are excellent with about 50% of the orig brown on the bbls and 30% of the blue on the locks and hammers. Stocks are fine. There is some cracking to the ivory on the cleaning rods. Court sword is excellent, with little sign of usage. Scabbard is fine. Saber blade has been cleaned to a gray patina with scattered spots of light pitting. There is little finish on the hilt. Drag is somewhat battered. Leather has been repaired and strengthened at a bend about midway. Portapee shows no use. Buckshot mold has been reblued. All other pieces in the case are fine. Flasks both have orig finish. Case has minor damage on the top but is generally fine. Lid is slightly warped. 4-58137 FS36 (25,000-35,000)

*Hunter Arms Co. L.C. Smith Grade II Double-Barrel Shotgun 12 ga. 30" barrels choked F/F S/N 313076. Blue/case colored finish walnut checkered English-style stock splinter forearm extractors 1907 date of mfg. Condition: Excellent refinished condition with excellent bores. It retains all of the restoration quality finish and the stocks are excellent. The metal surfaces with the exception of some pitting on the bottom of the barrels at the breech are smooth with crisp markings. This is an attractive and affordable American double gun.

*L.C. SMITH FIELD GRADE DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN RE56231. Hunter Arms dbl with 30" bbls, choked FULL/FULL with concave tapered matted rib, dbl ivory beads, ejectors & dbl triggers. It has straight grain walnut wood with checkered splinter forearm and straight grip stock, 14-1/4" over the orig serrated hard rubber buttplate. Drop at the heel 2-1/2", drop at the comb 1-5/16". CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 93-95% strong old restored blue. Receiver & lockplates retain 30-40% faded case colors with the balance cleaned to silver with some light pitting on the front end of the receiver. Wood is sound with the obligatory hairlines behind the lockplates, otherwise retains most of an old restored finish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bores with some scattered very fine pitting. *L.C. SMITH SPECIALTY GRADE DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN FWE127525. Fine Hunter Arms dbl with 28" bbls, choked FULL/MOD with concave, matted, tapered rib with sgl bead, ejectors and Hunter One Trigger. Lockplates are engraved with two quail on the left side and flying ducks on the right side, surrounded with foliate arabesque patterns and has the maker's name on each side. It is fitted with very nicely grained American walnut with black tipped checkered splinter forearm and straight stock, 14-3/8" over an old red waffle pad. Stock has a 7/16" thick tapered spacer that looks as though it may have been originally cut from this buttstock. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain most of a fine re-blacked finish and ring true. Receiver & lockplates retain 85-90% orig case colors, strong & bright in the sheltered areas, fading elsewhere. Trigger guard retains about 75% orig blue. Tiny hairline behind the right lockplate, otherwise the wood is sound and retains most of a fine custom finish. Left ejector needs attention, otherwise mechanics are fine. *FINE LC SMITH GRADE 3 DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 41979. Hunter Arms dbl with 26" bbls choked CYL/CYL & may have been cut. It has a tapered concave matted rib with single bead cross bolt rib extension extractor & dbl triggers. Receiver is lightly decorated with border pattern & a few flourishes of foliate arabesque patterns. Lockplates are beautifully engraved with oval vignettes of 2 quail on the left side & 2 woodcock on the right side with very fine foliate arabesque patterns & light border patters. The makers name is on each side. It is mounted with nicely figured, American walnut with checkered semi-schnable tipped splinter forearm with ebony tip & hard rubber dogs head inlay. It has a semi-pistol grip stock 14" over a decelerator pad. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain most of a restored finish with a few scattered spots of fine pitting. Receiver & lockplates are silvered case colors. Wood is sound & retains most of a refinish with freshened checkering. Mechanics are fine. Bright shiny bores. 4-56656 JR448 (800-1,200)
L.C. Smith Double Barrel Shotgun. Description OL: 44 - 3/4". BL: 28". S: American walnut with checkering and rounded pistol grip. 12 GA. Double trigger pull of 14 - 3/8". With twist steel barrels marked "Hunters Arms Company Fulton, NY". Left barrel has a rupture approximately 3/4" long. This is an outside hammer gun with a top release lever for the action. Action seems tight. Checkering behind rear locks and forend. This gun should not be fired with modern shot gun shells.Condition (Good - Very Good).
*RARE L.C. SMITH GRADE 5E DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 240686. Beautiful high grade Smith marked "5E" on frame under left lockplate. It has 30" bbls choked FULL/MOD with concave matted tapered rib with one bead, crossbolt rib extension, ejectors and Hunter One-Trigger. Top of the rib is marked "MADE TO ORDER BY THE HUNTER ARMS CO FULTON NY" and has a wide engraved gold band. Receiver is beautifully decorated with large vignettes executed in great detail. Left side has two setters in a field scene & right side has the same size vignette of two pointers on point in a woodland scene surrounded by 100% coverage, extremely fine, floral & foliate arabesque patterns with the maker's name in a ribbon on each lockplate. Receiver has about 60% coverage very fine, foliate, arabesque patterns with clusters of blossoms and another identical engraving on trigger bow, opening lever & top tang. It has checkered flat thumb safety with "S" in gold. Fitted with highly figured streaky French or Circassian walnut with full checkered splinter forearm with black wedge insert and straight grip stock, 14" over a serrated hard rubber buttplate. Bore restrictions: left - .041, right - .020. Drop at the heel 2-1/2", drop at the comb 1-1/4". Bore diameter: left - .693, right - .708. Wall thickness: left - .028, right - .032. Weight: 7 lb 10.5 oz. CONDITION: Very fine plus. Bbls retain about 98-99% of a fine professionally restored blue. Receiver retains about 95% strong bright orig case colors, faded on bottom and lockplates 96-97% strong bright case colors, slightly faded. Wood is sound and retains virtually all of a fine professionally restored finish including freshened checkering.
