LOT OF DAGUERREOTYPES & MAGIC LANTERN SLIDESLot of daguerreotypes and magic lantern slides. 8 daguerreotypes, including one in a gutta percha case, largest image 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" (with case 5" x 4"); with 8 O.U.A.M. magic lantern slides, including Holy Bible and Dishonestly Punishment, all with partial paper labels on the sides, each slide 7" x 4". Some desilvering and losses to daguerreotype images, two cases missing covers, one separated at spine, one repaired at spine, cases all with tears, fraying and losses; slides all with losses to paper labels.

HOLY BIBLE, CHRISTOPHE PLANTIN PRINTED 1565 Biblia, ad Vetustissima Exemplaria Castigata. Printed in 1565 by ex Officina Christophori Plantini, Antuerpiae. A book with a fantastic binding printed by a leading printer of the day. Encased in a clasped tooled Renaissance leather binding, with a nice example of Christ encircled by design and Latin prose. The verso has a king kneeling and looking up to God on a cloud with a city in the background. Exceptional stamping quality, full calf leather binding. Stamped on the front Biblia Sacra at the top and at the bottom the year 1569. The spine has 4 main ribs and 5 faux ridges. Between ridges are 6 fleur de lis in two rows stamped evenly in a line. Six free papers exist inside both the front and rear covers, the second free paper in from the front cover has an elaborate full page provenance manuscript written 'sum arnol di ab hol ten dantios cani anno 1577.'

First edition of the first Latin Bible of modern times, and the first Bible in which the text is divided into numbered verses; translated circa 1493-1520 by Sancuts Pagninus of Lucca Rumball-Petre. Antonius du Ry printer. Renaissance hand-tooled leather binding, impressed on front cover is M. Leonhardus Badhorn. 1535. Bound on spine with a contemporary brown leather overlay, spine contains 5 ridges of with the title falls in compartment #3, title in #4 and the date,1527, in the 5th. Adams B1008; Darlow & Moule 6108.

2VOL HOLY BIBLE AND BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER, 1699 Two similarly bound religious texts: The Holy Bible, Containing the Old and New Testaments: Newly Translated out of the Original Tongues and with the Former Translations Diligently Compared and Revised. By His Majesty's Special Command, printed in 1699 by University Printers, Oxford. The Book of Common Prayer and Administration of the Sacraments, and Other Rites and Ceremonies of the Church, According to the Use of the Church of England, Together with the Psalter of Psalms of David. Printed 1730 by His Majesty's Printer, and of Henry Hills deceased. Both books and boards are pressed red leather and gilded, showing a design of florals and acorns. Spine has five compartments with leather overlay gilded in floral designs. Original locking bars and mounts removed and covers have been embellished with silvered mounts in all corners, front and back. Each stamped with floral designs. In the middle there is a larger medallion engraved with a bird, two flowers and a geometric design. Verso has same type medallion with initial DMC finely engraved. Page edges are gilt. Signed inside by James Morgan, likely his family bible.
