Likely circa 19th century or before. No visible signature, however painting has not been examined out of frame. Scroll ends removed but included in this lot. Sight size is 21 1/2" x 10 3/4", framed to 30" x 17". Paper shows cracking and some minor loss.

John Wilmerding writes about Leithauser in a catalog from the Coe Kerr Gallery's exhibition "Mark Leithauser: Paintings, Drawings, Prints (1988-1992) in New York City (November 17 - December 19, 1992) saying that "few in the history of art match him in so controlling the coordination of hand and eye, of thought and execution in his magical silverpoint drawings, where, once begun, no alterations or corrections are possible."
