Edison Model H 4-Minute Standard Phonograph with 65 cylinders, c. 1905: phonograph comes in oak case with removable domed lid, black enamel plate marked serial #573625 and with patent information ranging from 1898 - 1905, comes with ten-sided black-painted tin morning glory horn with metal hanging apparatus, Edison trademark and company name appears throughout, replaced rubber connector to reproducer; along with 65 complete canisters featuring vaudeville, ethnic, folk, popular, waltz, march, brass, orchestral, and opera music cylinders (two Columbia Records, the rest are Edison), and eight empty canisters, some labeled with Jay M. Pierce Confectionery (Norridgewock, ME) retail paper labels, #8722 "Meet Me in St. Louis" broken, expected wear to cylinders throughout including some dry or brittle.
Early Edison Standard Model B Phonograph: Included in this lot is an Edison Standard Model B Phonograph. The Edison Phonograph Company was formed on October 8, 1887, to market Edison's machine. He introduced the Improved Phonograph by May of 1888, shortly followed by the Perfected Phonograph. This phonograph is most likely dated to after Thomas Edison brought back his idea in 1894. The phonograph displays metal construction, with the player set in a beautiful oak box. The front states "Trade Mark Thomas A. Edison", as well has Edison on front of the oak box. The piece shows a metal manufacturer’s plaque across the top back of the phonograph, with manufacturer information, model name and number, serial numbers, etc. The piece shows good condition overall, with some light wear due to age. The phonograph measures 13" wide by 9 1/4" deep and 9 1/2" tall.

Early 20th C. USA Edison Phonograph w/ 9 Cylinders: North America, USA, ca. 1903 CE. A handsome Edison Standard Phonograph, Model C, with an oak cabinet and lid with the company name painted on one side. The cabinet opens using two small metal hinges at the sides to reveal the playing mechanism. A crank arm is at one side. A metal plate on the bedplate casting gives the serial number: "S333330" (a total of around 820, 000 were produced). The style of the cabinet was designed to fit into a parlor without looking out of place or bulky, as phonographs like this one were marketed to middle income homes in the late 19th/early 20th centuries. This example is accompanied by 9 cardboard cylinder cases, with 7 cylinders. The phonograph appears functional but has not been tried. The phonograph itself is otherwise in beautiful condition with light patina on its brass components. The cylinder cases do not always match the cylinders inside, and two do not contain cylinders. These cases shown signs of wear commensurate with age and material. A few of the cylinders have some small losses. The phonograph and cylinders all appear functional but have not been tried.
