Note: A pieced and appliqued cotton "Century in Progress" quilt by Mrs. W.B. Lathouse, Ohio, circa 1945, composed of brilliantly colored red, white, blue and green patches at center, a bust portrait of FDR flanked by portraits of George Washington, The Father of Our Country and Abe Lincoln, The Emancipator, below vignettes of a log cabin and covered wagon and a depiction of the Mayflower above draped flags, the inner borders with pictorial appliques symbolizing the evolution of progress from candle to electric light, from horse to airplane, from bicycle to bus.
Condition
In good overall condition with minor staining, fading and wear, fitted with velcro on the reverse. Minor losses.

The group also includes (1) Mickey Mouse #5390, 4"H and an S&Co. puss in boot ice cream mold #178, contained in a wood cutlery box.

Faint paint wear to back of head, felt cape has small holes. 22"l. Period, if not original clothes. Cloth body and oil cloth lower arms and legs. Back plate marked "Made in Germany". Damaged dress. 12.5"h., and kid body and missing arms. Marked "2". 10.5"h. Together with cloth body and bisque lower arms and legs. Head separate. Approximately 13"h. Overall wear, some stains.

Measures 4" x 13 1/2" x 6 3/4". With original box measuring 4" x 8" x 3 1/4". Two-horse covered wagon (no. 170) with removable driver. The wagon canopy remains in its sealed envelope inside the box. Measures 5 3/4" x 15" x 3 1/2" not including the wagon canopy. With original box measuring 4" x 11 1/2" x 5 3/4". Three-horse hook & ladder (no. 324) with removable driver and ladders. Measures 4" x 11 1/2" x 2 3/4". With original box measuring 4" x 8" x 3 1/4".
Condition
Each toy is great condition, particularly given their age. The boxes for the hansom cab and hook & ladder show heavy wear.

An exemplary monumental Goebel white bisque porcelain group figurine depicting western pioneers leading oxen and a covered wagon. Commemorative metal plate incised WESTERWARD BOUND SCULPTED BY GERHARD SKROBEK FOR W. GOEBEL. Set upon a wooden base plinth with plaque edition number. The artist, Gerhard Skrobek (1922-2007), was the master sculptor at the Goebel porcelain factory and the premier postwar artisan of Hummel figurines. Damage to one ox horn.
