Peterson, St. Croix, 1868", depicting the dismasted British sailing ship foundering, her flag inverted as a sign of distress, her decks crowded, being approached on a collision course by an American ship whose crew is scrambling to luff their sails. Housed in an ornate gilt gesso frame with liner, OS: 39" x 55", SS: 26 1/4" x 42 1/4". Good condition.
