- ATTRIBUTED TO ARTHUR RACKHAM (UK, 1867-1939)
ATTRIBUTED TO ARTHUR RACKHAM (UK, 1867-1939) Long Panoramic View of a Verdant Summer Woodland, watercolor on illustration board, from a low (animal's?) point of view. The empty landscape contains no creatures, may possibly be a design for an oleo (moving) backdrop for a children's show, ca. 1930s, unsigned, what may be a later pencil inscription in the lower margin reads: "SCI-434-47A-54 = 984". Housed in a metallic green metal casement frame, matted under plexiglass, OS: 17" x 80", SS: 10" x 73", scuffs to plexiglass on right side over mat.
- 11 ARTHUR RACKHAM FRAMED ILLUSTRATIONS,
11 ARTHUR RACKHAM FRAMED ILLUSTRATIONS, RIP VAN WINKLEEleven framed Arthur Rackham illustrations taken from a 1910 printing of Washington Irving's Rip Van Winkle (William Heinemann, London). The illustrations are color offsets, each measuring 7 3/4" x 5 1/4" and framed to 10 1/2" x 8".
Offered with the illustrations is the book from which they were removed, bound in gilt green cloth, 10" x 7 1/2", retaining many more illustrations.
Condition
The framed prints are in very good overall condition-- worth noting though is that three of the illustrations are framed slightly differently than the rest (similar size and also silver finish, but a different frame). Aside from missing the framed illustrations, the book shows some wear and bumping to the cover and some foxing to the first several leaves.
