CHARLES SCHNEIDER LA VERRE 'HALBRANS' CAMEO GLASS VASECharles Schneider "Le Verre Francais" cameo glass ball vase, in the "Halbrans" pattern (geometrically styled wild geese above marshland), circa 1924-27. Clear glass cased over a lemon ground with mottled inclusions, acid etched cameo, and on the outermost layer, marbled enamels of blue, yellow, and brown. Incised "Le Verre Francais" just above the bottom rim. Measures 3 3/4" x 5". Charles Schneider (French, 1881-1952) designed for Daum from 1898 until 1912, when he partnered with his brother Ernest to create Schneider Fréres et Wolf (later Verrerie Schneider). With Charles's exquisite designs and Ernest's business sense, they were successful in creating a strong reputation for themselves in Paris and around the world.
Condition
Very good condition, with very mild wear consistent with age, and no chips or cracks.

Sight size 12' 9" long x 12 1/2" high, overall with the period gilded and gesso frame 13' x 15". Good condition, painting needs cleaning. Frame shows several areas of gesso loss. Provenance: Brockton Public Library, and the estate of Merrill M. McGowan.
