C. Lilley (Columbus Ohio), with a German walking bear stamp, having elaborate mounts and etching,, The third sword made by Harold Crane, New York, is a model M1860 Spanish American war officer?s dress sword, presented to Colonel Walter E Coe of Meriden CT by his friends, circa 1900, eight names adorn the scabbard with a nicely engraved eagle set above a lower mount dated Dec 25,1900, the blade engraved with patriotic symbols. Estimate ?200-300 By repute the sword was the property of a Liverpool-Glasgow salvage association driver at the port Bannatyne midget submarine base. At the end of the war he was seconded to the navy with the rank of Lieutenant to assist with decommissioning German submarines. The sword was found in one of the cabins. Yes there is a scabbard.
