THREE US CIVIL AND POST WAR OFFICERS DRESS SWORDS Collections of three dress swords, the first sword may be a Weyersberg (German), militia sword, with mother of pearl grip scales complete, the guard having the symbol for South Carolina, a palm tree motif with the date 1776, a King George stamped head marking on lower part of the blade, original silvering can be seen in protected areas; the second sword is a M1860 Spanish American War officer?s type made by M. C. Lilley (Columbus Ohio), with a German walking bear stamp, having elaborate mounts and etching,, The third sword made by Harold Crane, New York, is a model M1860 Spanish American war officer?s dress sword, presented to Colonel Walter E Coe of Meriden CT by his friends, circa 1900, eight names adorn the scabbard with a nicely engraved eagle set above a lower mount dated Dec 25,1900, the blade engraved with patriotic symbols. A German Wurttemberg infantry
A German Wurttemberg infantry officers sword the pommel with cypher for King Karl the guard with Royal coat of arms 39in. Estimate ?200-300 By repute the sword was the property of a Liverpool-Glasgow salvage association driver at the port Bannatyne midget submarine base. At the end of the war he was seconded to the navy with the rank of Lieutenant to assist with decommissioning German submarines. The sword was found in one of the cabins. Yes there is a scabbard.
