UNSIGNED EUROPEAN STEEL ARM CROSSBOWca. mid-late 19th century; unknown maker, this crossbow has fine figured walnut stock, brass arch butt plate, brass covered trigger assembly and brass plated upper slide and carved bolt slot; the sprung steel bow is held in place by Chippendale style shield shaped stop screw through brass nose plate, each side of lock plate is scroll cut brass plate, the housing for steel bowhas brass inlay, 29 1/4"x 27"; Condition: current twisted "cat-gut" line, unknown if working, some minor cracking to stock near trigger lock
