TWISS STYLE LONGCASE CLOCK & ANOTHERLot of two longcase clocks: one being a smaller example in the Twiss style (Montreal) in original dark varnish surface with wooden works (some gear restoration), and an unmarked and flaked painted face, old breaks to the pediment; the other is a Riley Whiting clock (Connecticut) in original grained and pinstriped surface with wooden works and a face in rough condition. Both missing glass and both having one post on the hood replaced. Ex Lawless collection. Largest (plus grande), 83" x 18" x 10.25". FRANCAIS: Lot de 2 horloges: l'une étant un exemplaire plus petit dans le style Twiss (Montréal) en surface d'origine vernis foncé avec mécanisme en bois (quelques restaurations d'engrenages) et un cadran peint non marqué et écaillé, vieilles cassures au fronton; horloge Riley Whiting (Connecticut) en surface d’origine faux-grain à rayures avec mécanisme en bois et un cadran en mauvais état. MAHOGANY TALL CASE CLOCK CIRCA 1810A very good quality figured mahogany eight-day hour strike longcase clock by Wm. Young of Dundee. The iron face is beautifully painted to represent England, Scotland and Ireland under the King and Queen of England. Housing a brass eight-day time and strike weight driven movement, retaining the original weights and painted iron pendulum. The case shows beautiful quarter columns along with recessed panels on the door and base. Young was active 1805-1843, a prolific maker of longcase clocks, the cabinet work used was always of the highest quality. He is listed as Watch & Clockmaker and working in the High Street, Dundee, Scotland. England, circa 1810. Measuring, 83" high x 19" wide x 10" deep.

MYLES - PAISLEY," WITH PAINTED ROUND DIAL WITH CLASSICAL SCENE OF TWO FIGURES, SECONDS BIT AND DATE POINTER, TIME AND STRIKE MOVEMENT, BARREL TYP...Tall Case Clock, c. 1850, mahogany and mahogany veneer, dial signed "M. MYLES - PAISLEY," with painted round dial with classical scene of two figures, seconds bit and date pointer, time and strike movement, barrel type hood with door opening upward above a tapered waist with half column decoration and blocked center, base with raised center panel over four, square, rounded edge pad feet, wear consistent with age including case with old or original finish, segmented hood arch has several glue joints open, movement recently cleaned, ticks and strikes with finger pressure, dial paint flaking. CANADIAN TALL CLOCK BY TWISS BROTHERS OF MONTREAL, CA. 1830 Country Chippendale Grandfather Clock by Joseph B. and Russell Twiss, who produced longcase clocks in the cities of Meriden, CT, Montreal and St-Liguori. Active 1821-51. Cherry-stained pine, with painted wood dial, broken pediment having brass finials (one damaged), three-day time and rod chime strike, with replaced 1950s vintage works, winding key and case key. 83 1/2" tall, 18" x 11".
