CIVIL WAR ERA TOY: THE LOG CABIN PLAY HOUSE Rare 1860s Boxed Building Toy by Ellis, Britton & Eaton (Springfield, VT), complete with wood and metal parts to build a miniature log cabin (possibly created as a tribute to President Lincoln who was raised in a log cabin); in a painted and stenciled slide lid box, with label printed by French and Wheat, New York, 5" high, 9 1/8" x 6 5/8". Paint losses, surface wear, loss to top of one box end panel.

[Political Americana - Lincolniana] Lincoln Campaign Torch Swing Style 8'' high (not including swing). Torches of this sort were used in the parades given in support of Abraham Lincoln before the 1860 election. The swing was mounted to the end of a pole and held above the head and many were fitted with three or four-sided transparencies bearing campaign slogans and images of Old Abe. Gettysburg edition, deluxe set, limited edition. #577 from an edition of 700. In 3/4" Moroccan leather with marbleized boards. Volume I includes a tipped in document dated Washington, 1861, signed by Abraham Lincoln with creases from folding. In the partly printed documents, Lincoln authorizes the Secretary of State William Henry Seward to affix a seal of the United States to the envelope of his Majesty the King of Prussia (Mr. Wrights recall). Volume I shows cracking to boards and some discoloration. Volume II has minor scuffing to spine. Volume IV shows cracking to top of spine. Volume IX shows cracking to spine. All other volumes show minor scuffing.
