6PCS IRVIN COBB LETTER ARCHIVE, AMERICAN HUMORIST Irvin Shrewsbury Cobb (1876-1944), was an American author, humorist, editor and columnist who wrote for the New York World, and was known as the highest paid staff reporter in the United States. This lot includes a look into the private life of Mr. Cobb with 6 separate letters with 17 total pages of which 3 are ALS and signed and two are typed with one being signed by him the other his secretary, Laura N. Paes. An interesting collection.

F. PETRARCA, SONETII E CANZONI, ALDINE PRESS, 1514 Sonetti e Canzoni di messer Francesco Petrarcha in vita di madonna Laura by Frencesco Petrarca. Printed 1514 by the Aldus Manutius. Bound in a highly decorated hand cut double sided Venetian window design, using mother of pearl as the background canvas and hand painting within each of the 21 compartments located on each of its sides. The internal designs are hand decorated with armorial like floral symbols with the front cover having the center spot painted and manuscripted around a framed printer's device as used by the publisher on the final page which is a symbol for Aldus Manuzio (Manutius) (1449-1515) and the Aldine Press The cutout wood panel raised portion on each board is completely decorated with symbols and florals then completed with a border of grapes and vines with gilt. This book was printed while Aldus was living. The verso has similar devices with the center painting of a lion with wings and a halo of which is the Venice version of Saint Mark's lion symbol. The paper edge is gilt with impressed floral designs and alternating diamond enclosures. The spine has 5 ribs with decorated compartments of florals in gilt with the title falling into compartment #2, and date at the bottom. 12mo. (3),184p.p. (+32),(3)
