CONFEDERATE WOOD DRUM CANTEEN, BLAKELY ALABAMA Confederate paint decorated wooden drum canteen, having original metal bands and period leather strapping, painted ‘Blakely, Alabama,’ in yellow or muted gold on one side, the other side embellished with a large centered heart in the same paint. The paint decoration my indicate that this canteen was the property of someone from Blakely or it may indicate that it was taken a a souvenir of the battle for Fort Blakely in April 1865. Approximate dimensions: d. 7.25" w. 2.25"
