On the back is the logo for Moore Bros Photographic Gallery in Springfield, Massachusetts. Second is a photo of corporal Albro Weir in full uniform of overcoat and striped pants, 25th Regiment, Conn volunteers, Company D. Discharged August, 26, 1863. On the back is the logo for Bartlett and Webster Photographers, Hartford, Connecticut.

CONFEDERATE OFFICERS KEPI PICKED UP AT GETTYSBURG United States,C. 1862Brown/gray satinet cap body, dark blue broadcloth band, two rows of gilt metallic officers braid, a bound edge visor, blue silk lining with Confederate newspaper sewn into the pasteboard crown, and a black painted cloth sweatband, with a note from James Frasca and Don Troiani related to the cap. Note: This cap is pictured in "Gettysburg Battlefield Relics & Souvenirs," by Mike O'Donnell, O'Donnell Publications, Virginia, 2009, p. 96, and was a prized part of Steve Mullinax's collection.

(LOT) ID'D CIVIL WAR PHOTOS, DOCUMENTS, MEMOIR(lot) Family archive of Albert Henry Clay Jewett (New Hampshire, Washington, D.C.,1841-1898), discharged as First Lieutenant, Fourth Regiment of Volunteers, State of New Hampshire, Army of the Potomac, later employed at the U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Pensions, Washington, D.C.: (1) half plate tintype of Jewett standing, uniform includes officer epaulettes; (1) quarter plate tintype of Jewett from waist up, his uniform includes kepi and officer epaulettes; (1) albumen head shot of Jewett, the collar of his uniform is visible; (1) certificate appointing Jewett a Second Lieutenant effective November 5, 1862 signed by Nathaniel S. Berry, Governor of New Hampshire with the state seal; (1) certificate appointing Jewett a First Lieutenant effective August 14, 1863 signed by Joseph A Gilmore, Governor of New Hampshire with the state seal: (2) books, "A Boy Goes to War" by Albert Henry Clay Jewett, copyright Grace J. Austin, 1944 (Grace, his daughter) one signed at the at the interior by Grace, the book being a autobiographical sketch of Jewett's war experience, the front piece and dust cover a photo picture of Jewett and his sword; (1) 1892 letter from the State of New Hampshire, Adjutant-General's office reciting the Revolutionary War record of Jewett's grandfather' (1) tintype, 1/16 plate size likeness of a woman believed to be Jewett's wife or lady friend, marked in ink "Picture rec'd in service about 1862 or 1863 from T(J?)erry; (2) Civil War Volunteer Enlistment forms, State of New Hampshire, 1862, for Luther Townsend and Robert Davis, likely in Jewett's possession related to his Bureau of Pensions employment; together with large group of family letters relating to Jewett, for shipping largest item: 17" x 14", total: 5.35lbs

CIVIL WAR ARCHIVE SGT. ROBERT HENRY, TINTYPE & DOCUMENT...1st item: Civil War sixth plate tintype of Sergeant Robert Henry who served with 15th Independent Battery, Ohio Light Artillery and 15th Volunteer Battery, Ohio Artillery. Tintype image depicts Henry in his uniform, seated and holding an artillery sword with an unusual S guard. Hand tinting of buttons, Kepi ensignia, buckle, sword grip, and guard, housed in a tooled leather case. 2nd & 3rd items: Two discharge documents, one dated January 3, 1864 documenting his discharge from 15th Battery OV Artillery as a Private (he volunteered December 11, 1861) and the other dated June 20, 1865 from the 15th Independent Battery, Ohio Light Artillery where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. 4th item: Hand written letter by Capt. Edward Spear, Jr. of the 15th Independent Battery, Ohio Light Artillery certifying that Robert Henry of Olmstead, Ohio is reenlisting as a "Veteran Volunteer" in his battery "from the 4th day of January 1864". Letter is dated "Feby 1st, 1864". 5th item: Certified 1923 typed copy of Robert Henry's Soldier's Discharge Record.
Condition:
1st item: Light abrasions to center and left margin of ambrotype. One half of case missing, light wear to remaining half. 2nd - 5th items: Fold lines to all documents with toning and normal wear/ losses to edges.

Includes 1 Canadian made Royal Navy officer's visor with insignia, bullion and faux white leather top; 1 Royal Navy officer's wool visor with bullion insignia and patent leather strap; plain white sailor cap; 1 gray wool sailor cap with 2 metal stars and eagle/anchor insignia; 2 Russian navy caps with Cyrillic lettering and hammer, sickle and star insignia (used, light grime); 1 sailor cap with blue band and red trim and red pouf at top (possibly Norwegian); 1 officer's visor with green and red wool, insignia with lion rampant under a star and bullion braid (light wear and grime); 1 French officer's kepi, possibly World War I era with silk lining, some small stains and color bleed to side; 1 Norwegian Navy cap with white top and blue band with lettering, KNM HARALD HAARFAGRE; 1 blue wool Norwegian navy cap with metal insignia; 1 dark blue wool cap with lettering, US NAVY; 3 Russian style Ushanka caps, 1 with metal East German insignia, 1 with Russian enameled and gilt sickle-star-wreath insignia (light wear); the other with enameled red/white/green oval badge; 1 North Vietnam pith helmet with star in circle insignia, Russian and English writing on tag, marked "Made in Vietnam" (sic) and "Kapelusz Vietcong", interior strap broken; and 1 Army green vinyl gas mask. Major Vaulx served under Major General, B. F. Cheatham in several campaigns including the Battle of Franklin. 6 1/2" x 4 3/16". 2nd item: Ambrotype of unidentified Confederate Army of Tennessee Soldier in partial leather embossed case with brass mat. Gold highlights to his kepi and buttons on coat. Mat stamped Worcester, Mass No. 10, Dean & Emerson's Patent Applied For. 3 3/4" x 3 1/4" x 3/8". 3rd item: Broadside describing leadership conflict at Spring Hill between General Hood and General Cheatham as witnessed by others including Major Vaulx, 19 1/2" x 3 7/8", probably a Confederate field printing.
