CHINESE 18TH C GILT BRONZE INCENSE BURNER. 18th century Chinese incense burner and cover depicting a Shoulou seated atop a deer. Deer suspends a sprig of lingzhi fungus in its mouth. On a later carved wood base. From a Scarsdale, NY estate. Dimensions: incense burner measures approx. 8" w x 3" d x 14.25" h excluding base. Condition: Good, with light surface scratches and minor dings/dents. Missing an article to one hand of the Shoulou. Losses to antlers. Glue residue to underside of each hoof.

Rising from a small square gilt pedestal with tiny feet, the small square vase rises outward to a high shoulder, then tapers to a small mouth. Each of four sides has raised gilt floral decoration with birds.
