Many important articles on the Constitution, strongly written letters from farmers and countrymen discussing the facts of the day and reporting of state conventions towards ratifying the constitutions of the US and the states themselves, plus much local, news and advertisements. The following dates are represented: in 1787 they are, April 28, June 20, October 24, 27 and 31st, November 28th, December 12. In 1788 we have the following dates: February 20, June 21, August 23. 1791: June 2.

THIRTEEN (13) 19TH CENTURY SOUTH CAROLINA UNIFACE BANKNOTES To include: Three State Bank of South Carolina $5 notes (1857, 1860, blank date) Bank of the State of South Carolina $5 (1861) with Francis Marion vignette; Bank of Camden, $5 (1857?) and $10 (no date); Office of the South Carolina Rail Road $1, (1850s?), railroad vignette, perforated; Commercial Bank of South Carolina $5 (1859), Agriculture with Seated America vignette; Bank of Chester $5, Surrender scene (two notes, one dated 1853, the second illegible); Farmers & Exchange Bank of Charleston $5 (cotton field scene) and $20 (wharf scene); Bank of Hamburg $20 with Industry and Agriculture vignette (1859), an historical note from a town that never recovered from hosting a massacre of its black inhabitants in 1876.

ARTHUR WAAGEN (GERMAN, 1833-1898) 10 ?" x 12" x 4 ?" "Pferd Mit Jungs." Cast bronze equestrian grouping, depicting two boys trying to climb on a stallion tied to a wooden fence. The horse curiously watches their attempts. Warm brown patina with gilt highlights; on oval bronze base with natural ground and one boy's draped hat. Signed "Waagen", cast on the front right; wood panel with old paper backing attached underneath. Provenance: acquired by current owner from an old prominent private collection, Pittsburgh, PA; gifted to current owner's mother in mid. 1970's from Elizabeth Braun Ernst (her father Arthur E. Braun was president of the Farmers Deposit National Bank in 1919 and publisher of the Pittsburgh Post and the Pittsburgh Sun, and became a chairman of the advisory committee of the Mellon Bank in 1950; Warwick Terrace Estate, Morewood Heights, Pittsburgh; contemporaries of Andrew Carnegie).
