EARLY 19TH CENTURY the hood with a swan neck pediment with embossed brass rosette roundels, enclosing a 13 inch gilt breakarch dial with silvered makers roundel to the arch signed 'Jn. Russell, Falkirk, Watch Maker to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales', pierced gilt spandrels, with a silvered Roman numeral chapter with Arabic five minute markers, subsidiary seconds and calendar dials, the hood flanked by reeded Doric columns above a moulded arched trunk door flanked by reeded quarter columns, on a plain plinth base with bracket feet, the eight-day movement striking a bell208cm high, 53cm wide, 26cm deep

A PAIR OF VICTORIAN CAST IRON MEDUSA HEAD DOOR STOPS, S...A PAIR OF VICTORIAN CAST IRON MEDUSA HEAD DOOR STOPS, SCOTTISH, FALKIRK IRON CO, MARKED, CIRCA 1875, each cast with a paired serpents entwined loop handle continuing down to the screaming winged mask of Medusa with writhing serpents hair, raised on a conforming molded base, verso impressed kite date lozenge mark and "FALKIRK PL 26554 No 146." Height: 14" Width: 14 5/8" Depth: 6 1/2" Note: Falkirk Foundry Co. located in Falkirk Scotland, was originally set up in 1810 and by 1819 was established as the Falkirk Iron Company. Over the ensuing years the company survived various hardships until 1961 when it was dissolved and absorbed by Allied. In 1981 the Falkirk Iron Works foundry closed its doors.
