Presented in a gilt cassetta-style frame that measures 27 1/2" x 40". James Hamilton was called the "American Turner" for his similar stylistic sensibilities to renowned English Romantic painter JMW Turner. During his time in Philadelphia, James Hamilton notably taught the legendary American landscape painter Thomas Moran.
Condition
Good condition, noting some craquelure to the paint layer. There are a several areas of thin paint layer at the edges of the canvas just inside the frame sight. No notable issues observed under blacklight.
