comprising an example bearing the name C. C. Newberry in gilt lettering and marked Koken Barber's Supply Co. and an example identified Sport Fambrough, stamped Germany on underside.
Height 4 inches.
Ivy Holt "Sport" Fambrough was born on December 6, 1892, in Rusky County, Texas to Sterling Price and Della Mae Andrews Fambrough. He enlisted in the United States Army on October 9, 1917, and served during World War I for two years until his discharge on April 1, 1919. Fambrough married Willie Albertine Whittington Cordell, and the couple had one son, Don (1922-2011). According to U.S. Federal Census records, he operated a meat market and worked as a butcher in Longview, Gregg County, Texas. The nickname purportedly came from his son, both a football player and coach for the University of Kansas Jayhawks. Fambrough died on October 21, 1975.
