PAIR CHINESE BLUE & WHITE ON CELADON VASES Pair of Chinese blue and white on celadon vases, each of baluster form with a dished rim, the trumpet neck flanked by confronting Fu lions and the body decorated with a scene of the Daoist figure Liu Haichan holding a coin and riding into the water on the back of a toad toward a canoe hung with a double gourd and containing two female Daoist deities, all on a celadon ground, apparently unmarked but having a partial wax seal underneath. CHINESE FIGURE OF ZHENWU & ATTENDANTS Chinese turquoise fahua glazed biscuit figure of the Daoist deity Zhenwu and his attendants, the personification of the North depicted seated on a throne with a snake and tortoise at his feet, flanked by two attendants, this deity was venerated during the Ming period as a protector of the Empire and the Imperial family, apparently unmarked.
