Very good condition. Some cracking to stones, but no losses.

EIGHT-PANEL GILT LACQUER COROMANDEL SCREENA mid-20th c. Chinese eight-panel coromandel screen, black lacquer with gold-leaf palace scene. To the reverse are polychrome tree and flower motifs. Each panel measures 84" x 16", and 7" deep altogether when completely folded up.
Condition
There is some wear to the gold leaf, but overall very good condition.

Below the primary scene are a variety of floral designs. The reverse of the screen bears a bird-and-flower scene and eight individual landscapes.
Each panel measures 69" x 12 1/4".
Condition
There is a considerable amount of wear across the eight panels, including losses and cracking to the lacquer, as well as general grime and staining.

CHINESE TWELVE-PANEL COROMANDEL SCREEN Chinese twelve-panel coromandel screen, carved and lacquered on one side with various birds in a garden of peony, prunus, rose, magnolia and rocks, the reverse decorated with military and civil officials in procession in a courtyard setting, 104.5"h. x 240"w. Provenance: Property from the estate of Patricia Moffat Pope, San Francisco, Ca. Patricia married George A. Pope Jr. in 1959 and together they built a Thoroughbred horse racing empire that included 27 stakes winners in the United States and in Europe. Among the many races that they won include the 1962 Kentucky Derby.
