*EXTREMELY RARE VERY EARLY COLT PRE-WOODSMAN SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. Cal. 22 LR. SN 8. Blue finish, standard model with 6-5/8" pencil bbl, original adjustable front and rear sights, diamond checkered walnut grips and an original magazine with brass follower. It has a standard velocity spring housing. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Overall retains 88-90% original finish with moderate to heavy muzzle wear and moderate edge wear on the frame and slide with a bare spot and thinning on the front strap and about half of the spring housing a blue-gray patina. Magazine retains about 75-80% thin blue finish. Grips are sound and show moderate to heavy wear, missing a chip at the right toe. Mechanics are fine with strong bright bore and some light pitting toward the chamber end. *VERY RARE ENGRAVED COLT PRE-WAR WOODSMAN SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. Cal. 22 LR. SN 53815. Fine woodsman pistol with 6-5/8" standard bbl, adjustable front and rear sights, and full-checkered walnut grips and an original 2-tone magazine with marked base plate. It has factory engraved flourishes of foliate arabesque patterns covering about 25% of the frame, slide and bbl. There are additional small flourishes mirror imaged on the rear of the slide and frame, spring housing, front strap, trigger guard and behind the rear sight. It is accompanied by its original dark maroon hinged lid box with blue and white end label an two black & white over labels, one marked "TARGET" and the other "ENGRAVED". It contains an original red covered owner’s manual and a special instruction pamphlet. It is also accompanied by a Colt Factory letter identifying this pistol as factory engraved and having been shipped January 13, 1928 to A. Baldwin Co., New Orleans, LA in a shipment of one gun. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Has been fired, but very little. Retains virtually all of its brilliant original factory finish with only very faint muzzle edge wears on one side. Grips have a chipped diamond or two and show very light wear. Mechanics are crisp with a brilliant shiny bore. Box lid has been taped. *SCARCE NAVY ISSUE COLT WOODSMAN SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. Cal. 22 LR. SN 105875. Blue finish with 4-1/2" tapered rnd bbl, standard front sight and adjustable rear sight. It has full checkered walnut grips and is accompanied by an orig 2-tone magazine. The sideplate on the left side has a small circular stamp with two crossed keys. This is the Navy Storekeeper's mark signifying this was a military issue pistol. This mark is illustrated on page 221 US Handguns of WWII, Pate. The front strap has a screw hole exactly where one would mount a pair of elephant ear grips. CONDITION: Extremely fine, retains 98% plus strong bright orig blue with only faint muzzle & sharp edge wear. Grips are equally fine with light diamond point wear and the magazine retains most of its orig factory finish. Pistol has been fired but very little. **Colt Woodsman Semi Automatic Pistol.
Serial # 085202S The Woodsman sports model with a 4 - 1/2" barrel, adjustable rear sight, blued finish, checkered walnut stock, and was manufactured in 1950. Arguably the finest quality production .22 semi-automatic pistol ever manufactured. This gun was manufactured after the second World War and shows virtually all of the factory finish albeit a bit of high edge muzzle wear, new mint grips, one original magazine, mint bore and action.
